Disabilities vs. Differences
Disabilities, physical or mental, doesn’t mean that you are any less than anyone else. You are strong. You live a different life than other people. The importance is how you perceive it, how it affects your identity, and how you live with it.
Identifying as Someone with a Disability
Disability identity refers to possessing a positive sense of self and feelings of connection to, or solidarity with, the disability community. Coherent disability identity is believed to help individuals adapt to a disability, including navigating related social stresses and daily hassles. -apa.org
