Hi, I am Mei. I am a Chinese adoptee. In 2015, I made a documentary on adoption and identity. (Adoption & Identity Intertwined)
After 5 years, I have decided to reopen the Adoption & Identity Intertwined Interview project. This project is for adoptees to learn more about how they think about their adoption stories and their identity development. I originally did this project in 2015 with some friends. I am revisiting those interviews and seeing how the past 5 years has changed their perspectives on life and themselves.
I am offering other members of the adoptee community the chance to be part of this project as well. These interviews will be conducted over Zoom with the same questions I asked in the initial project. The interviews are solely for the adoptee interviewee. After reviewing the interview, the interviewee can choose if they would like certain sections or the entire interview (transcript or audio) added to The BEAT's website's resources. I want to stress that I will not pressure or push anyone to release their interview to the public. I honestly find these interviews insightful for both sides and am genuinely curious about other adoptees' experiences.
If you are interested please fill out the information below and I will get back to you to schedule an interview.
*You must be an adoptee and have parental consent if you're younger than 18 years old.*
